Vol. 61 No. 4, Jan. 19, 2019
Catalina State Park
A/B/C Area: Group Picnic Area 2:30 pm
Organizers are Erika Hartz, Bob Kish, Karola Saller
It's time again for our annual winter cookout. This big event has something for everyone - hikes, eating, and talking with hiking friends.
We will begin serving at 2:30 PM. Please bring your own cups to limit the number of foam cups going into the trash. Also, seating is limited, so bring your own folding chair. We can always use volunteers for specific tasks. Please give Erika (574-7942) or Bob and Karola (743 - 9580) a call if you would like to help.
We serve at 2:30 PM, RAIN or SHINE. The cookout is free for SAHC members. It is suggested that guests pay $3. Everyone will have to pay their own entrance fee into Catalina State Park, which is $7 per car for up to 4 people (or use your State Park pass). We encourage everyone to CAR POOL, CAR POOL, CAR POOL!!! Those who are not hiking can meet at Oracle & Magee around 2:00 pm and car pool to the Group Picnic area.
THE MENU: Hamburgers and fixings, (and a limited number of vegetarian burgers) beans, coleslaw, chips, cocoa, tea, iced lemonade, coffee and cake.
ON SALE: Club T-shirts and polo shirts, as well as patches.
SWAP MEET: Bring to the cookout any OUTDOOR equipment you no longer need, have outgrown, or upgraded, such as boots, packs, tents, sleeping bags, etc. LABEL the items with your name, size, and price.
Again this year, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the Community Food Bank. We have been doing this for several years, and it seems a good way to lend a hand to a worthy organization. The Food Bank is grateful for any donation; however, they especially appreciate low-sodium vegetables, fruit packed in juice, not sugar syrup; and tuna packed in water not oil (no Bluefin tuna)
The following items are always a priority:
Canned Tomato Products
No GLASS JARS, please.
THANK YOU for bringing a few items.
Thanks so much for helping or including something this year.
