Vol. 61 No. 4, Jan. 19, 2019
A belated welcome to the New Year.
SAHC had a spectacularly successful celebration of its 60th anniversary, including a wonderful article about founder Pete Cowgill by Doug Kreutz in the Arizona Daily Star. Between 150 & 200 people showed up at the program to celebrate and to see John Klein's presentation on climbing Mt. Everest. The continued vibrancy of the club over so many years is due in great part to the dedication of members stepping up to provide leadership by serving on the board and assisting in other roles including serving as hiking guides. Many thanks to those who have served over the years.
Our winter picnic is coming up on Saturday, January 26 at Catalina State Park. We welcome all our members, whether you plan to hike or not. This is a great opportunity to meet members that you may not hike with and get to know them. Our club is as much about the people we meet as it is about hiking. We also welcome you to sign up to help out. We rely on volunteers to make the picnic enjoyable for all. Contact our special projects coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
The SAHC Board has formed a committee to consider our presence on the internet, including both our website and our Facebook page. We have both technical experts and people looking at it more from a consumer standpoint. Our goal is to make the website and Facebook page useful to members and attractive to prospective members. If anyone has suggestions for improving either, please send them to me and I will pass them on to the committee at email@example.com.
Winter is a great time to get out and hike in Tucson, so letís continue to enjoy ourselves.
